Comrades in Amerika, here's something y'all should be aware of:

http://www.congressofresistance.org/

The People's Congress of Resistance is a political project that aims to put together a working people's congress in opposition to the US Congress—the Senate and House of Representatives who are beholden to and only care about the ruling class. It will convene in September of this year at Howard University, an HBCU in Washington DC.

The Congress will meet to put together a platform and vision for real resistance (read: not voting for Democrats) to not only the odious personality of Donald Trump but the policies he, Pence, and all of the ruling class are pushing and benefit from.

The people (and the organizations they work with) who have come together to convene this congress include:

  • Professor Jared Ball (Morgan State University, iMixWhatiLike)
  • Dennis Banks (co-founder and National Field Director, American Indian Movement)
  • Juan Jose Gutierrez (Coordinator, Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition)
  • Mahdi Bray (Executive Director, American Muslim Alliance)
  • Kevin Zeese (Co-Director, Popular Resistance)
  • Dr. Margaret Flowers (Co-Director, Popular Resistance)
  • Anoa J. Changa (Deputy Director, MPACT)
  • Professor Jodi Dean (Hobart and William Smith Colleges)
  • Berthony Dupont (Haiti Liberte)
  • Professor Vijay Prashad (author and journalist)
  • Karina Garcia (Justice Center en El Barrio)
  • Jonathan Hutto (Coordinator, Prince George’s People’s Coalition)
  • Eugene Puryear (Stop Police Terror Project DC)
  • Neal Sweeney (Vice President, UAW Local 5810)
  • Dr. Henry Clark (Executive Director, West County Toxics Coalition)
  • Jim Lafferty (Executive Director Emeritus, National Lawyers Guild Los Angeles)
  • Dominic Moulden (Resource Organizer, ONE DC)
  • Yasmina Mrabet (Community Organizer, ONE DC)
  • Akbar Muhammad (Int’l Representative, Nation of Islam)
  • Gloria La Riva (Party for Socialism and Liberation)
  • Brian Becker (National Coordinator, ANSWER Coalition)
  • Cindy Sheehan (author/activist)

Registration is open now - $150 to help sponsor another comrade's way, $100 as a standard registration, and $50 for students or those on a fixed income. There's also a form to fill out if you want to attend but can't afford even the $50 registration.

In my view, the 100$ cost for the registration is prohibitively high. It makes it impossible for the people that need to be represented politically the most, to attend.

Anyway, I wish the best to the project and any of you that will be there (I suspect Misley will be one).

That's why there is the $50 registration for students/those on fixed income. There is also a form that comrades can fill out if they want to attend but can't afford even the $50 registration.

Besides, it's not necessary for everyone to be there personally. Communities can get together, come up with a list of local issues, and send a delegate to the Congress.

I've been eyeing this ever since you posted the livestream on the Discord chat, and am pretty sure I'm going to be able to make it. See you there!!
