What are your favourite leftist songs? And who are your favourite leftist artists?

Be totally free to express your preferences. Everything is accepted, from Woody Guthrie to Dixebra, from Ho Ho Ho chi Minh to Chumbawamba. The only thing you all have to agree on is Brother Hao.

Virtually all leftist music is pretty good, but I have to say my favourite is the Worker's Song sung by Dick Gaughan, one of Scotlands best current socialist folk artists. Or, Billy Bragg's version of the Internationale is very good too.

You know what I like: most Asturian rock (particularly folk-rock and ska, which is generally leftist) and certain songs

I like non-leftist celtic punk, so I really like comrade @Asturies-Llion 's asturian punk.

I don't like the songs sung by the Red Army choir, but I appreciate DPRK's.

Regarding modern music, I like the european Ska-punk scene (Boikot, Talco, Banda Bassotti, etc.), a pretty unique case of a folk punk group based in northern italy (MCR) and I absolutely love Rage Against the Machine and System of a Down. The latter ones are not a strictly leftist group, but they have been vocal in opposition against wars waged by the USA.

The best leftist folk songs are the pro-IRA ones in my opinion (including celtic symphony). What do you scottish comrade/-s think about them?

I like many partisan songs from a number of countries. Personal favorites are Greek, Spanish, Italian and Irish leftist songs.

Regarding bands, Rage Against the Machine and The Clash are my favorite explicitly leftist bands. Ska-P is also pretty good. I may be forgetting some, though.

I rather enjoy German Communist songs from the 1930s. Especially those produced by a Brecht and Eisler combined effort, although there is variation in my interests. See below:

And, of course, we can't forget the original:

There are a lot of good folk songs that are leftist and pro-IRA. I think one of the best is the anti-imperialist 'Come Out Ye Black and Tans', though some are a bit too nationalistic for me. If any comrades want a good Irish leftist singer, Pol Mac Adaim is really wonderful. His rendition of the Internationale in Irish is great.

I don't know if they are particularly left-orientated, but I am a big fan of The Specials and other 2Tone groups. The Beat have always been proud about their socialist views though and have no qualms in expressing them. From 2Tone I went on to listening to old school ska/bluebeat/rocksteady/reggae.

The song that eventually became The Specials' Too Much Too Young:

that song is good, athough I prefer the wolfetones' version. A pro-IRA song we usually listen to in the discord server is this one:

@Bluebeat never heard of them, even if a lot of ska artists are leftists
